McCullers Group will serve as Owner’s Representative for the Mauldin, South Carolina multi-use sports and entertainment stadium project jointly announced today by the City of Mauldin, the State of South Carolina, Greenville Pro Soccer, and BridgeWay Station.
McCullers has worked on predevelopment planning and, importantly, represented Greenville Pro Soccer in development agreement negotiations leading up to the project’s closing, providing strategic counsel on terms, financial forecasting, and development planning.
As Owner’s Representative, McCullers Group will be responsible for project delivery, including procurement of the project team, design oversight, budget management, administration, and general owner advocacy on the project, which will provide a permanent home for USL League One’s Greenville Triumph and USL W League side Greenville Liberty. The approximately 6-acre, $80-$100 million venue is expected to seat up to 10,000 and welcome a host of local, regional, and national sporting events as well as concerts, festivals, entertainment events, and other community uses. The stadium is slated to break ground in early 2025 with an opening date in 2026.
The project will be part of the city’s BridgeWay Station mixed-use development. The Hughes Investments property is the first new town center development in the Upstate of South Carolina. Located along I-385 in Mauldin, BridgeWay is a family-friendly destination, featuring residential, commercial, and entertainment spaces. It offers a vibrant community where residents and visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, from shopping and dining to outdoor events and entertainment. The new stadium will become a central feature of the development.
“McCullers Group has worked closely with Greenville Pro Soccer Chairman Joe Erwin and local stakeholders for some time to see this project to closing,” said McCullers Group founder and President Mark McCullers. “We’re extremely excited now to pivot to delivering a stadium that will be a unique, legacy asset that leaves a lasting positive impact on the Upstate and the Triumph and Liberty organizations.”
“Mark, the McCullers Group team, their counsel, and their expertise have been crucial in getting us here today,” said Erwin. “And as excited as we are to finally kick this project off, we know there’s much more to do. But we know we’ve got a great team on and off the pitch and we know what a tremendous asset this stadium is going to be for the community and our partners and what an incredible home it’s going to be for our teams and our fans.”
