Spokane Velocity
USL League One side Spokane Velocity was looking for a home. Spokane Public Schools was looking for a successor to the venerable Joe Albi Stadium – home to a number of the eastern Washington city’s high school sports teams and championships since 1950. The team enlisted McCullers Group’s site selection expertise to help accomplish both goals.
We worked with city officials to develop the strategy and justification to reallocate the school district’s bond funds from an Albi Stadium renovation to a new downtown venue, providing greater value for the district and the community while also securing professional soccer. We simultaneously supported the soccer club by generating financial operating projections, license agreement negotiation, and owner’s representative services, which included providing counsel on design, operations, and revenue optimization.
The multi-use ONE Spokane Stadium, nestled perfectly into the North Bank district of downtown, opened in 2023 alongside two other venues – Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena to the southwest and the Podium to the south – creating a unique and popular sports, arts, and entertainment district that continues to draw enthusiastic crowds of high school and professional football (soccer) fans and lots of other exciting events and entertainers to town.
