Baltimore Orioles
When Major League Baseball’s Baltimore Orioles decided to create a comprehensive, high-tech player development facility at the team’s Ed Smith Stadium complex in Sarasota, they brought on McCullers Group as owner’s representative to help direct and oversee the project.
The transformative, year-round facility, which is used for offseason training, Spring Training, injury rehab, and the organization’s Florida Complex League team, includes an indoor, climate-controlled infield that can be separated into four quadrants for fielding work and individual pitching and batting training. It also features a biomechanics pitching and hitting lab with force plates and over 30 cameras to capture every movement in a player’s form, a covered exterior eight-mound bullpen, two additional covered batting cages, an outdoor turf agility field, classroom spaces, locker rooms, offices, and a player lounge.
The entire project was completed in less than a year and has become what the team’s president of baseball operations called “the best Spring Training setup in the state of Florida.”
